Police Service Commission Held Service Of Song In Honour of it’s Former Chairman

The Police Service Commission (PSC) held a Service of Songs in honor of its former Chairman, Dr. Solomon Arase, on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the Holy Trinity Church in Maitama, Abuja.

The team was led by DIG Taiwo Lakanu, Honourable Commissioner representing the Police in the PSC. Dr. Arase’s remains were scheduled to be airlifted to Benin, Edo State, on Saturday, September 27, 2025, after lying in state at his Maitama residence. The head of media and publicity Ikechukwu Ani has confirmed.

It should be recalled that, Dr. Solomon Arase’s was a renowned police officer who served as the 18th Inspector-General of Police and later became Chairman of the PSC.

During this period he was known for his commitment to reforming the Nigeria Police Force and promoting merit-based recruitment and transparency.

Dr. Arase received the National Police Medal in 2013 and was conferred with the national honor of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) in 2022.

The deceased, through the Solomon Ehigiator Arase Foundation (SEAF), he invested in education and community development, awarding scholarships to outstanding students.

The government and Dr. Arase’s colleagues have paid tribute to his legacy, describing him as a visionary leader who made significant contributions to policing and community development.

His dedication to public service, education, and community development has left a lasting impact on the lives of many Nigerians .
