The Oyo State capital and West Africa largest brown city Ibadan is hosting former Inspector General Police in the State for a two days retreat from 22nd – 24th August 2023 is no longer news.

It should be recalled that the theme of the retreat is “Intervention of Ex-Inspectors General of Police For Strategic Contribution To Effective Policing In Nigeria” The event holds at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, IITA, Ibadan, Oyo State. The retreat is expected to bring together of the former Inspector General of Police to the ancient city.

Report reaching Aiyekooto Reporters, Mr, Ikechukwu Ani the designated Spokeperson for the event, revealed the event has kickstart and the Chairman of the Committee of Retired Inspectors General of Police, Alhaji Aliyu Atta, GCON; Ogbonnaya Onovo, CFR, Hafix Ringim, CFR, Dr. Solomon Arase, CFR, Chairman Police Service Commission and Ibrahim Kpotun Idris gave good account of themselves and ignited the fire of their readiness to improve on the system.

Mike Okiro, Sunday Ehindero ,the acting Inspector General of Police Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun will be joining others today. While the National Security Adviser AIG Nuhu Ribadu (rtd) are expected to grease the ongoing retreat. Those out of jurisdiction are expected to participate via Zoom.

According to Ikechukwu Ani, several topical papers will be presented at the Retreat such as; Current State of Police Preparedness; Issues, Challenges and Prospects and Strategic actions and steps towards restoring NPF’s primacy in internal security architecture of Nigeria.

The first of it’s kind retreat in recent years is a clear testimony of the retired inspector general of Police to extend their invaluable service to the nation. The untiring Police Chiefs resolved to collaborate with the Federal Government on strategic planning and restoring the Nigeria Police Force dignity and address serious security challenges.

The Chief Security Officer, who doubled as the Chief Host, Governor Seyi Makinde is also expected to grease the occasion.

Aliyu Attah, a retired inspector general of Police and chairman of the Committee, said the ex- inspectors general of police have a lot to offer the nation in the search for solutions to the persisting and ravaging security crisis in the country, the Spokeperson highlighted in the statement released.
