Assault On NYSC Member Police Talk Tough
ANAMBRA POLICE CONDEMNS ASSAULT ON FEMALE YOUTH CORPS MEMBER IN OBA
The Anambra State Police Command is taking a strong stance against the alleged assault on a female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member by vigilante operatives in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area. The Police Spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga brief Journalists in the document released.
According to him, the assault reportedly happened on July 23, 2025. The victim, Jennifer Edema Elohor, was beaten and stripped naked by armed vigilantes from the Operation Udo Ga-Achi
(Agunechemba Vigilante Group).
The Anambra State Police Command condemned the assault, stating that assault is a criminal offense under Nigerian law. They’ve identified suspects but note that the investigation is stalled due to the victim’s unavailability. SP Ikenga said in the report made available to Aiyekooto Reporters.
The Anambra State Police Command reassures NYSC members of their commitment to protection and urges them to report incidents of harassment or abuse.
The Command warns vigilante groups against brutality or abuse of authority, stating such misconduct won’t be tolerated. SP Ikenga quoted the Commissioner of Police CP Ikioye Urutugu in the reports.
