Lagos Police Arrest Suspected Employment Scammers

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested some syndicate who masquerade as employment bureau in extorting innocent Nigerians of their hard earned money.

Information revealed to our correspondent that the syndicates has duped well over hundreds of unsuspecting citizens across the state of the federation.

In adherence to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Idowu Owohunwa to rid the state of criminal activities and crime. The Igando Police Division has reacted to the intelligence report before it.

The Operatives, responding to an intelligence report that (name withheld) was lured from Enugu State to Igando Area of Lagos State under the pretence of giving out job opportunity to the victim in an Oil and Gas Company. In the process the sum of six hundred and fifty thousand naira (#650,000,00) was obtained from the victim without offering her the job.

The Divisional Police Officer of the area, CSP Ekeinde Ohiomoba acting on order and directives of the State Commissioner of Police, CP Idowu Owohunwa mobilize his men led by DSP Usman Nureni who swiftly swung into action, cordon off the area and apprehended nineteen suspects in connection to the sham employment exercise. Laptops, necklaces and other items were recovered during the arrest.

The suspects are still under investigations at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti Yaba. A source close to Aiyekooto Reporters confirmed the arrest and promise that they will be charged to court after the conclusion of Police investigations. While the Spokeperson for the State, SP Benjamin Hundeyin is yet to make official statement on the arrested syndicates.

It should be recalled that, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Idowu Owohunwa has warned repeatedly that parents and guardians should ensure that they watched and monitor their children, that the digital world has given rise to alot of criminality and unsuspecting citizens become victims to the menace.

The situation is left to be seen if the suspects will have a date in court as soon as possible.
