President Tinubu Announces 26 New Appointments Across 10 Federal Agencies
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced 26 new appointments into 10 Federal Government agencies and commissions.
Former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayo Fayose, has been appointed as Chairman of the Board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), while Major General Junaid Bindawa (rtd) has been named Chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission.
Fayose will head the REA Board alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engr. Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta, who were appointed as members and Non-Executive Directors. The current Director-General of the Agency, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three previously appointed Executive Directors complete the Board.
In addition to Major General Bindawa, President Tinubu made eight other appointments into the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission. Former member of the House of Representatives from Lagos State, Hon. Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, was appointed as Secretary of the Commission.
Dr. Ogbole Ene Lilian, Oladele Olatubosun and Yakubu Umar Barde, representing Benue, Oyo and Kaduna States respectively, were appointed as Federal Commissioners.
Also appointed as members of the Commission are Dr. Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Florence Tor (Enugu), Engr. Lawrence Okoh (Edo) and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi).
President Tinubu has redeployed Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, who was previously appointed as Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), to the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission as Secretary.
The President also appointed Dr. Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission, Dr. Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc (NBET), and Dr. Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.
Similarly, Engr. Julius Oloro, a former local government chairman, has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), Kwara State. He replaces Dr. A.R. Kamal, who died in January.
The President also constituted the Board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission with Dr. Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as Chairman. Other members of the Board are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr. Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.
In the same vein, Shuni Muhammad Dahiru has been appointed as the new Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education. He replaces Prof. Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was reassigned to the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) in April.
To fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Mathias Byuan, former Executive Director, Finance, of the Federal Housing Authority, who resigned to contest the governorship election in Benue State, the President appointed Gisaor Vincent Iorja. Iorja is an economist, legal scholar and academic, currently serving as Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC).
All appointments take immediate effect.
