Six Former Inspector General Of Police In Attendance

The biblical Solomon was known for his reformatory Spirit. The Nigerian former Inspector General of Police and former Chairman Police Service Commission, Dr Solomon Arase was known as a Police Chiefs and a Reformist.

His contribution to the country and Policing can never be overemphasized. His media touch to a once moribund Police Service Commission dilapidated building and facelift , his strategic and functionality of the commission under the framework of instrumentality with the paraphernalia of Law and constitutionality replacement from it’s idleness to the reformatory status as being witnessed today is the working testimony of the Nigerian Solomon efforttery !

Little wonder that dignitaries from politics, law, security, and civil society gathered in Abuja on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, came in and pay tribute to the late former Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Solomon Ehigiator Arase. The event, held at the Police Resource Centre, Jabi, highlighted Arase’s significant contributions to policing, justice, and human rights.

Governor of Edo State Monday Okpebholo (represented), Senate President Godswill Akpabio (represented), current IGP Kayode Egbetokun, and six retired IGPs.
Six retired IGPs shared heartfelt tributes about Arase’s legacy.

Other Representatives from the legal community, civil society, human rights groups like CLEEN Foundation, and former Force PRO Bisi Kolawole .

Dr. Solomon Arase is identified as a Reformist Police Chief: Arase was known for his reforms in community policing and criminal justice administration.

He introduced the Police Complaints Response Unit and the Intelligence Response Team during his tenure as IGP.

The late Inspector General of Police, Dr Arase won both National and International Awards, he’s Conferred with the national honor of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR).

He is survived by wife and children, he surrendered to mother earth at the age of 69 . May his soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.
