Delta State College of Nursing Science has withdrawn the query letter issued to student Osatohemwen Edobor over a viral video.

The video showed nursing students refusing to sing praises of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu during a health program in Asaba, Delta State .

The query letter was issued after Edobor posted the video online, but it sparked widespread criticism from Nigerians, including activists Omoyele Sowore and lawyer Inibehe Effiong .

They called for the withdrawal of the letter, citing infringement on Edobor’s freedom of expression.

Following the backlash, the college provost, Mrs. R. Evbödaghe, signed a letter dated March 28, 2025, withdrawing the query. The letter stated that the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, directed the withdrawal, and Edobor was asked to return the query letter.

The school authority also regretted any inconveniences caused by the query.
