Peju Ogunmola and Aluwe
Sometimes in 1989, the then upcoming actress, Peju Ogunmola married Awada Kerikeri actor, Sunday Omobolanle better known as Papi Luwe or Aluwe.
Peju Ogunmola comes from a family of entertainers. She is the daughter of late versatile dramatist and playwright, Kola Ogunmola. The late Ogunmola was a former school teacher who derived fun in performing plays. He went on to become one of the biggest actors of his time until his death in 1973.
Peju Ogunmola’s late brother, Yomi Ogunmola was also a popular actor and director who was one of the most popular faces on screen in the 90s. One of his famous act in Tunde Kelani’s ’Ayo Ni Mofe’, has also continued to trend on TikTok and other social media platforms. He was also a celebrated filmmaker who directed some of the biggest movies of his time.
Aluwe and Adebayo Salami (Oga Bello) were the founders of Awada Kerikeri theatre group which preceded the later famous Odunfa Caucus of Yoruba Nollywood.
Peju Ogunmola has put in over 35 years into the movie industry featuring in some of the biggest flicks of her generation. She acted the role of a regent, Adele Oyenike in Femi Adebayo’s highly rated movie, ‘Jagun Jagun’.
She is most definitely a legend!
