PSC Mourn Another: Former Chairman, Parry Osayande Dies At 89

PSC RECEIVES WITH SHOCK THE PASSING ON OF ITS FORMER CHAIRMAN, PARRY OSAYANDE BARELY A MONTH AFTER THE DEMISE OF ARASE

DIG Parry Osayande, a former Chairman of the Police Service Commission, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025, in Benin City, Edo State, just hours before his 89th birthday.

The PSC Spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani has said in a statement in early Sunday morning in Abuja.

According to him , he was appointed Chairman of the Police Service Commission in April 2008 by President Goodluck Jonathan and played a vital role in the commission’s growth, including securing presidential approval for the commission’s corporate headquarters in Abuja’s Jabi district.

He said further that, Osayande was known for his fearless and focused leadership, which significantly impacted the Police Service Commission during its formative period.

He championed administrative reforms within the police, leaving a lasting legacy in the force.

Osayande was remembered for his dedication to serving his community and nation, earning him recognition as a national asset.

However the Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo described Osayande as a courageous and disciplined police officer who made significant contributions to the nation’s security and the history of Edo State.

The commission, led by Chairman DIG Hashimu Argungu, mourned Osayande’s passing, calling on Nigerians to remember the commission in their prayers during this difficult period of losing two former chairmen within a month.
