Osun Gets New Police Commissioner

Ibrahim Gotan is the newly appointed Commissioner of Police for Osun State, succeeding Mohammed Umar Abba, who recently retired.

The new Police Commissioner is coming from a robust background and experience.

  • Birthplace: Gotan hails from Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State.
  • Education: He graduated from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Kaduna State, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology.
  • Police Career: Gotan joined the Nigeria Police Force in May 1992 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (Cadet ASP). He has served in various capacities across different states, including:
    • Borno State: Served as Personal Assistant to the Commissioner of Police
    • Ogoni Land: Unit Commander during a period of crisis
    • Ibadan: 2i/c 4PMF
    • Taraba State: 2i/c Operations
    • Liberia: Commander of the Nigeria Formed Police Unit (NFPU) on two occasions
  • Professional Development: Gotan has attended numerous professional courses within and outside Nigeria, showcasing his expertise in policing.
  • Personal Life: He is married with children and enjoys hobbies such as football, traveling, and polo.

With his extensive experience and skills, Gotan is well-equipped to lead the Osun State Police Command effectively.
