Man Murdered 68 years Old Mother, Attempted Suicide Over Cassava Business

ANAMBRA POLICE ARRESTS A SUSPECT OVER THE MURDER OF HIS SIXTYEIGHT-YEAR OLD MOTHER AND ATTEMPTED TAKING HIS OWN LIFE IN EKWULOBIA

Hands over twelve suspects of illicit drugs and recovered exhibits from a Police raid in Orumba North to NDLEA

The Anambra State Police Command has made two significant arrests recently.

Mother’s Murder

  • Nnamdi Anyaji, a 49-year-old man from Amudo Village in Ekwulobia, was arrested for allegedly killing his 68-year-old mother, Dorathy Anyaji, over a dispute regarding proceeds from a cassava business.
  • The suspect reportedly accused his mother of being dishonest about the money earned from the business, leading to a heated argument that escalated into violence.
  • An axe was recovered at the scene, and Anyaji attempted to take his own life after the incident but was restrained by neighbors and subsequently arrested.
  • The police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed that Anyaji is being held in custody under close monitoring to prevent another suicide attempt and will face court proceedings after investigation.

Drug Bust

  • In a separate operation, the police raided a drug camp in Umuokpala Village, Orumba North Local Government Area, and arrested 12 suspects between the ages of 20 and 29.
  • The suspects, identified as:
    • Ifeanyi Bernard
    • Emmanuel Ugwu
    • Thankgod Kelechi
    • Umeh Chidera
    • Aguiyi Onyeka
    • Onyeka Martin
    • Festus Ihezie
    • Chibundu Nicholas
    • Solomon Obiefule
    • Chibundu Daniel
    • Neke Shedrack
    • Nwazufu Kingsley
  • were found selling and consuming hard drugs, and a significant quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp was recovered.
  • The suspects were handed over to the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further action.

The Command Spokesperson,SP Tochukwu Ikenga has said in the report privy to Aiyekooto Reporters.
