”THERE IS STILL MUCH TO BE DONE:” SAYS CP ORUTUGU AS HE COMMENDS THE PROFESSIONALISM OF OFFICERS DEPLOYED FOR THE NATIONAL ASSIGNMENT OF THE PRIMARY ELECTIONS OF THE RESPECTIVE POLITICAL PARTIES IN THE STATE

CP Ikioye Orutugu, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, commended his officers for their professionalism during the recent governorship primaries. He emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of professionalism, especially during sensitive events, and urged his officers to continue excelling in their duties .

The Commissioner noted that there’s still much work to be done to ensure a peaceful and secure environment, particularly during the campaigns and main elections. He reiterated the Command’s commitment to providing a secured environment for the people of Anambra and all political actors, while remaining professional and apolitical.

Some of the key initiatives taken by CP Orutugu to enhance security in Anambra State include :

  • Reorganization of the CID: CP Orutugu ordered a reorganization of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to tackle evolving crime trends and bolster investigative prowess.
  • Establishment of a Political Desk Unit: A specialized unit was created to monitor political activities, conduct threat assessments, and devise risk management strategies to ensure robust security during political campaigns and high-stakes events.
  • Acquisition of Forensic Equipment: The Command plans to acquire modern forensic tools to revolutionize evidence analysis, sharpen suspect profiling, and streamline crime scene investigations.

CP Orutugu has also taken steps to improve communication within the Command by directing the acquisition of permanent phone numbers for Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers. This aims to strengthen public safety and enhance operational efficiency .
