Police Busts Gun Running Syndicate, Armoury, Made Astounding Recovery In Anambra

  • Arms Dealer and Accomplices Arrested

The Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye has commended the operatives involved in the operation on the instruction of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D, NPM, who provided guidance throughout the operation.

According to statement released by the Police Public Relation Officer of Anambra State Police Command, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, he said Police in Anambra State have arrested a major illegal armed dealer in the State.

Ikenga speaking further on the development said, the breakthrough followed weeks of intensive surveillance by operatives of the Command. The manhunt for the illegal dealer lead to the recovery of a total of Twenty-Three Automatic Pump Action Guns and 625 live cartridges from the suspect.

It should be recalled that severally the highest police command in Abuja have made consistent call on submission of firearms, light arms to douse the security challenge in the country. The window for such is still in activation unfortunately enemies of the state will definitely not have none of the several warnings as illegal arm runner will remain stock in promoting illegal acquisition of firearms and ammunitions.

So far three suspects have been arrested in Onitsha while investigation is being expanded. The statement released and sighted by our correspondent quoted the Spokeperson for the state DSP Tochukwu Ikenga to have said.
