Effective Road Network Not Negotiable – IGP

The Inspector General of Police, Ag. IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun PhD, NPM
has responded to the clarion call regarding road network in the country. He reiterated the Force nominal role to provide professional supervisions, strategical dispositions and conformity with best global standard as the only options towards safety citizens in protection and securing the society

The IGP took congenital steps to restore the importance of efficient road network , he ordered for an improved police formation notably the regimented ‘Monitoring Units and X- Squad Operatives in collaboration with supervisory senior officers, to conduct thorough assessments of key checkpoints along our highways”.

The target is to strategically position needful Check Points, effective management of personnel to avoid professional misconduct and corrupt practices to enable it consummate best global practices in discharge of official duties, the statement released by the Force PPRO ACP Muyiwa Adejobi mnipr, mipra, has said.

This is sequel to various complaints that the check points are unnecessary as it constitute “indiscriminate checkpoints that may disrupt the flow of traffic and/or encourage any inappropriate behaviours of officers on the roads and inconvenience citizens”.

The Inspector General of Police Olukayode Egbetokun PhD, NPM postulation differs from the position on the outright condemnation but he rather responded that
“NPF cannot afford to do away with checkpoints as they are vibrant parts of visibility policing, which is crucial to effective policing of our contemporary society”. He reaffirmed that the overall purpose is to achieve the anti-crime goals.

The IGP appeal to the society to cooperate and enable the already vast and experienced Senior officers who has been deployed to do the needful, hence the beneficial effect will prevail on effective management of road network users in the country, the irrepressible Spokeperson for the Police Force ACP Muyiwa Adejobi highlighted in the release statement.
