A social media personality Mr Martins Otse popularly called VeryDarkMan has landed in fresh Police trouble over an authorized use of the Nigeria Police Force official uniform. According to a statement from the Police Headquarters, the negative trend of such is a dangerous precedence, unethical and unlawful.
Consequence upon the aforementioned, the Nigeria Police Force has taken to social media to release an official statement regarding the viral video of self acclaimed human activist, VeryDarkMan donning their uniform.
In the post shared on their official instagram page on Saturday the 26th day of October, 2024 The Nigeria Police condemned the unlawful use of police uniforms by content creators.
They further stressed that the unlawful or unauthorized use of police uniforms, insignia or accoutrements constitutes a criminal offense and that they have launched an investigation against VeryDarkMan.
According to the released the , “Nigeria Police condemns unlawful use of police uniforms by content creators. As police launches investigation into circulating video by VDM. The Nigeria police strongly condemns the unauthorized use of official uniforms and accoutrements by an online personality, Mr Martins Otse, popularly known as VDM in a video posted on his social media platforms”.
“The force unequivocally disassociates itself from this unauthorized portrayal and has launched a full investigation to determine the source of the police gear used, as well as the authority under which he acted. It is important to remind the public that the unauthorized use of police uniforms, insignia or accoutrements constitutes a criminal offense”, The Nigeria police wrote and it stirred massive reactions from the general public.
The law is clear about it, as the abysmal abuse of unauthorize use of Police Uniforms by Content creators among others are very strong criminal offence and punishable under the Law.
The strong condemnation by the Police is a clear signal that the social media influencer is in real police pepper soup and the law look unkind to the violators except Police withdraw the charges, if not, VeryDarkMan is already on halfway to prison.
