Umunze is no go area, Headquarters of ESN, is false and baseless – Police

The Anambra State Police Command has dispelled the rumour going round in the state and social media handles that Umunze is a no go area and accredited headquarters to ESN, the Police has described the situation as unfortunate, and said there’s no iota of truth that Umunze is no go area in the State much more a terrorist headquarters to ESN.

The State Command frown at such insinuations and call on well meaning Nigerians especially indigene of the state to disregard such information going round in social media, it’s a ploy to discredit the security architecture of the state, it’s a miscarriage of facts , mischievous and only target known to the disgruntled elements.

Speaking further at the backdrop of the aforementioned , the Spokeperson of the state command, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga , “while sympathizing with the kidnap victims who was allegedly held for four days in the area, it’s important to let the public know that the claims attributed to the man is false and baseless”.

According to the statement released, “The public should recall that the Police-led Forward Operating Base in Aguata just last month smashed the insurgents Camp at Ogbunka near Umunze, rescuing three kidnapped victims including a Priest; recovering nine stolen Vehicles and three Pump Action Guns and arresting three of the criminals. So how can anyone claim the Police describe Umunze as a no-go area?”.

A no go area, can not have a functional Divisional Police Headquarters, much more discharging it’s statutory responsibilities to the local people of Umunze?

The Police is aware of sketchy activities of insurgent to the south of Umunze in a neighboring State and collaborative effort is ongoing to riot them out of the place, He said.
