Peter Tosh ,world famous reggae musician said in 1979 that things will be better when the dollar dies. He also said when the dollar dies, people will respect each other and there will be no inflation.
He also emphatically stated that corruption will be permanently cured once the dollar falls.
In 2024, 45 years after he sung that song, IMF has warned Zambia to stop thinking of dedollarising the economy in her effort to improve the country’s exchange rate.
Dedollarisation refers to countries reducing reliance on the U.S. dollar as a reserve currency, medium of exchange or as a unit of account.
