Rescue Nine victims, PDP Chairman still held , Vowed To Arrest Suspects – Police

The Ogun State Police Command is under intense pressure of recent in kidnapping incidents of late. The Commissioner of Police, CP Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha Psc has continued to raise the bar in protecting and securing the indigenes of the state. He has continually told his personnel’s in the State to put their eyes on the ball.

This disposition prompted the immediate response of Isara Police Division of Ogun State when acting on credible intelligence report received on the 25th January 2024 at about 1900hrs that suspected hoodlums emerged from a nearby bush near Bamboo area of Ogun State along the Lagos /Ibadan Expressway.

In their characteristics manner , the gunmen barricaded the highway with their stipulated vehicle blocking the oncoming motorists, firing indiscriminately on air , to destabilize commuter’s, and motorists who abandoned their vehicles and fled for safety.

The Police Divisional Officer acting on the intelligence report of the incidence responded swiftly with his men, aided with Army patrol team on transit reacted with gunshots which enable nine out of the ten victims to escape from the suspected gunmen.

According to the Spokeperson for the Police, SP Omolola Odutola, “A White Mazda Bus registered as LSR 288 XE was slightly damaged, while Eunice Afolake Osalusi “f”, Erinfolami Samuel “m”, Obafemi Da Altantra “m” and Adeyinka Mathew sustained non life threatening bullet injuries in their escape attempts, they are recuperating and stable in hospital. Sadly, one Bilikisu Kazeem “f” aged 37years, gave up the ghost before getting to the hospital”.

Speaking further on the incident, SP Odutola confirm the identity of Philip Aivoji ‘m’ a Politician from Lagos State still held by the captors, the victim is the current Chairman of Lagos State People Democratic Party of Nigeria. Covert operations are in place for the politician rescue.

Items recovered includes one AK47 Magazine containing 28 live ammunition believed to belong to the hoodlums, handsets, car key, were handed over to respective owners.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operation in the State to ensure the Lagos State Politician return safely to his family while assuring people of the state of their safety, he vowed that penetrators of this hideous crime will be arrested and brought to justice.The Spokeperson for the Police stated in her report.
