The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP ALAMUTU ABIODUN MUSTAPHA psc, has appealed once again to families, care givers, broader communities, to prioritize adequate care and attention to their loved ones requiring special care.
The Commissioner of Police CP Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha who is speaking on the backdrop of a case brought before his command has stated that it is the panacea in solving certain mental health issues.
According to SP Omolola Odutola the Police Spokeperson for the State sighted a reported incidence that occurred on the 10th of November,2023 at Ajuwon Police Division by one Alhaji Tajudeen Bello (The complainant) “he stated that while he was driving out his Lexus jeep with registration number KSF 648 GF in Adetoyese, Akute Lagos, an unknown individual named Waheed Quadri threw a stone that caused significant damage to his vehicle’s windscreen, estimated at four hundred and fifty thousand naira (#450,000).
The Divisional Police Officer, ordered for the suspect arrest, the suspect, Waheed Quadri was brought in for interrogation, during the process, the DPO discovered the incoherent and mumbling speaking of the suspect. The family of the suspect was contacted where the mental state of Waheed Quadri was disclosed. The mother of the suspect and elder brother revealed that he escaped from the mental health centre in ikire Osun State.
This prompted the State Commissioner of Police, CP Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha imploring citizens that showing love and care to people with special and peculiar mental cases is the panacea of avoiding alot of incidental cases like the one we have before us.
He appealed that people should prioritize adequate supervision, care and attention to their love ones requiring special care in avoiding similar incidents and ensuring their overall welfare.
