Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) National Coordinator, CSP Olabisi Oluseyi Okuwobi took the message of crime prevention to Lagos State largest local government, Alimosho with well over two millions inhabitants.
The event which is to collaborate Children’s Day Celebration has in attendance Children from various schools in both private and public in conjunction with the Lagos State Government.
The POCACOV National Coordinator, CSP Olabisi Okuwobi speaking at the event took time to be explanatory to children present at the event that crime is a sin against God, Humanity and dangerous to them. Cultism is a social vices that will damage life circles and kill cherished dreams. She advised them to stay away from any form of crime.
While addressing the children at the epic event, according to her, the Inspector General of Police IGP Olukayode Egbetokun PhD, NPM and the functionary of the Nigeria Police Force consider it imperative that curative measures is huge expensive hence, Preventive Policing is panacea to any form of crimes, while giving analogical illustrations of the sequences of crime to the children and consequential effects to stay away from crime that it doesn’t pay.
“POCACOV it is all about you, be a champion because we are champions. You don’t need to be a cultist before you become a champion, you don’t need to be a criminal before you become a champion” the National Coordinator, CSP Okuwobi has said.
Speaking further, It is not just about enforcement of the law but prevention of crime is less expensive and should be encouraged, prevention is better than cure, If we are to stand up on enforcement of the law it is expensive, when a crime is not prevented but allow to gel it’s cancerous, this is the situation we are trying to arrest and nip it at its bud . hence , educating the children who are most hit with the psychological effects of crime due to ignorance and vulnerability nature becomes pertinent.
This is why POCACOV is for us to key into and embrace instead of recycling criminality through curative measures of birthing it where all paraphernalia of policing is exhausted despite cost implications and the judiciary not spared neither the suspect or suspects guarantee of attitudinal change.
The POCACOV Initiatives is to ensuring that vulnerable children/youths do not fall victim to crime or criminal activities like drugs or cultism , those who are already victims will be rehabilitated and engaged through synergy between the POCACOV initiatives and non-governmental organizations while those keen to go to school will enjoy scholarships through the collaborative support of the established organizations. This is why POCACOV is condemn to catch them young through the gospel of engagement and telling them the consequences of crime, such as drugs and cultism and other satanic vices attached to this social delinquencies.
The IGP representative on POCACOV, CSP Okuwobi, addressed them with analysis, portray the spirit that the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices initiative of the IGP Olukayode Egbetokun has come to stay with the turnout at Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State .
