Police Rescue Minors From Pastor’s Dehumanizing Treatment
The Rivers State Police Command has arrested Pastor Ifediorah Onyeibor Joseph, 41, following a distressing video circulating on social media showing the alleged dehumanization of minors in a church setting. A statement released from the Police Public Relations Officer of the state , SP Grace Iringe-Koko has said.
The incident occurred when Pastor Joseph allegedly organized a 3-day “spiritual cleaning” program for children in his church, claiming he was inspired by the Holy Spirit.
Police operatives arrested Pastor Joseph and several church members after receiving information about the incident. A thorough investigation is underway.
The viral video showed children, mostly unclad, kneeling and clutching palm leaves while being flogged with palm fronds. A narrator in the video alleged the children had been subjected to days of beatings and maltreatment. What a barbaric and inhuman treatment to the teenager .
Reacting to the viral video, the Commissioner of Police CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju urges the public to remain calm while the investigation continues. He emphasizes the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of citizens, especially vulnerable populations like minors.
