The Nigeria Police recuitment exercise is not going to be business as usual but on the scale of merit . The Inspector General Of Police IGP Usman Alkali Baba Psc (+) ,NPM, fdc has stated equivocally that it is going to be based on merit and not base on recommendation of the high and mighty as this is a clear departure from the norms as being expressed by certain quarters .The Nigeria Police Spokeman, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi in a statement released to the press gave vivid procedures leading to the Police recuitment exercise. The IGP Usman Alkali Baba Psc+ NPM, fdc emphasize the physical screening of the applicants, filling of the form online, which is free, Computer- Based Test (CBT) set and organized by West African Examination Council (WAEC) this perequites is for those who scale through the physical screening of the Nigerian Police Force NPF as provided by the Police Acts 2020 , Medical screening exercise will be conducted to all the applicants who passed the Computer -Based Test (CBT) Examination. This is to confirm the fitness of the applicants before giving such perogatives in offering the applicants the policing job. Base on merit of performance during the aforementioned processes they will be collated and priotized per Local Government (LGA) leading to be selected to form part of the Police Constable intake for a particular year , including the just concluded 2021 intake.The process is transparent to ensure the 10,000 would be applicants are merited and ensure the most suitable are priotized and given the policing job. This is against certain publications that it was done otherwise. The statement further read, ….”that the Police recuitment is not for sale neither can it be influenced. He therefore urge the general public to disregard such comments… the IGP vows to continually intensify efforts in upholding the sanctity and standards of modern policing in the NPF” the statement reads.
