Police Promise Adequate Security To Boost Electoral Integrity Across Anambra State

ANAMBRA BYE-ELECTION: CP ORUTUGU REASSIGNS DIVISIONAL POLICE OFFICERS TO ENSURE NEUTRALITY AND SAFEGUARD OF ELECTORAL PROCESSES

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has taken proactive measures to ensure a smooth and secure bye-election in the Anambra South Senatorial District and Onitsha North 1 Constituency.

The Police Spokesperson for the state, SP Tochukwu Ikenga gives insight on the developments prior to the election.

On the other hand, The Commissioner of Police, CP Orutugu ordered the reassignment of Divisional Police Officers across strategic locations in Anambra State ahead of the bye-elections on August 13, 2025.

The CP re-emphasize the importance of the rules of the game, this move aims to reinforce police neutrality, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure maximum security before, during, and after the polls. SP Ikenga quoted the security Chief as saying.

According to SP Ikenga, the Command emphasizes its commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process and ensuring the safety of voters, election officials, and electoral materials.

All officers deployed for election duties must act with the highest level of professionalism, impartiality, and adherence to the rule of law. He was quoted in the reports.

Speaking further, any breach of the Police Code of Conduct or actions undermining the peaceful conduct of the election will face strict disciplinary measures.

The Command urges political parties, candidates, and supporters to cooperate with security agencies and avoid actions that may incite violence or disrupt the electoral process, Aiyekooto Reporters report .
