Police Foiled Kidnapping/Armed Robbery Attempts In Delta

The Delta State Police Command, has foiled a kidnapping and armed robbery incidence and in process rescued victim and recovered two AK 47 rifles on the 17th December,2023 laround Okpe Local Govt Area of the State. The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe has said in the report privy to Aiyekooto Reporters.

Speaking further, the Command received credible information around 2130 hrs about suspected kidnappers /gang of armed robbers at Okpe LGA of the state.

While acting on the information at Police disposal, the Commissioner of Police Delta State Police Command, CP Wale Abass Psc directed the Commander Safer Highway, CSP Joseph Onubi to mobilize men deployed around Sapele axis and he responded swiftly.

The Safer Highway Commander, CSP Joseph Onubi mounted a stop and search around Okwutaiire Community Okpe LGA, Delta State when they sighted a Toyota Camry 2.4 (REG. NO:GGE 645 FM) that matched the description given by the informant and headed towards the direction. The Driver on sighting the Police immediately manoeuvre and zoomed off.

The police gave hot chased, forcing the driver and another occupant to jump out of the moving vehicle and flee into a nearby bush, abandoning the vehicle and a 54-year-old man. The police thoroughly search the car and discovered (02) AK47 riffles with thirteen (13) rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition concealed inside the vehicle engine compartment and in the trunk of the car.

The Command is still in hot chase of the other members of the gang. While items recovered is now in police custody.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Wale Abass Psc has warned that the Command will not relent in exposing criminal minded persons and persecute same. He assured that the state will be free from such disgruntled elements and safer for peace loving Deltans to have a safe yuletide period. CP Wale Abass also solicits for support of the citizens in giving relevant information to nips crime and criminality in it’s bud.
