Police Bent To Unravel Cause Of Death Of A Teenager Despite Parents Withdrawal
CP ORUTUGU DIRECTS CONTINUOUS INVESTIGATION TO UNRAVEL THE CAUSE OF DEATH OF A 17-YEAR-OLD APPRENTICE IN UMUZOCHA, AWKA, EVEN AS PARENTS OF THE DECEASED VOLUNTARILY WITHDREW INTEREST IN THE CASE
The Anambra State Police Commissioner, CP Ikioye Orutugu has directed a thorough investigation into the death of 17-year-old Chikamso Ejiofor, an apprentice found lifeless in a compound at Umuzocha, Awka. The State Command Police Spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga has said in a report made available to Aiyekooto Reporters.
According to the police Spokesperson SP Ikenga received a report on October 5, 2025, and promptly visited the scene, taking photographs and conveying the victim to a hospital where he was confirmed dead.
While speaking further, the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) will conduct a thorough review to determine the cause of death.
Family of the deceased took a different position in the matter, Chikamso’s parents have expressed their decision not to pursue the case further, citing their son’s alleged unruly behavior, and have sworn an affidavit and submitted a formal withdrawal letter to the effect.
The Police Command reacted despite the family’s position, CP Orutugu emphasized the Command’s statutory responsibility to investigate unnatural deaths, ensuring justice and transparency are served.
The goal is to provide answers for the family and ensure justice is served. SP Ikenga said in the report.
