Police Arrests Interstate Criminal Suspects and Recover Vehicles
POLICE DISMANTLE INTERSTATE CAR SNATCHING SYNDICATE; RECOVER 22 VEHICLES, ARREST 12 SUSPECTS
The Rivers State Police Command has made a major breakthrough in combating car theft in the region!
In an intelligence-led operation, they’ve dismantled a sophisticated car theft syndicate operating across multiple states in Nigeria. Twelve male suspects were arrested, and 22 stolen vehicles were recovered. The Command Spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko has said in the reports released.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer , SP Grace Iringe-Koko
the case began in September 2024 after a report by Mr. Enoch Daniel about his stolen Toyota Hiace bus. Suspects arrested include ex-convicts John Amadi and Nna Goodluck, who confessed to being hired to snatch vehicles.
Other key suspects arrested include Yakubu Abdullah, Abdulkareem Saminu, and Adamu Musa (a dismissed Police Officer). The syndicate is coordinated by Falco Ibrahim (at large), with a network spanning Rivers, Anambra, Taraba, Enugu, Borno, Kano, Delta, and Akwa Ibom States. Stolen vehicles were smuggled via agent Shehu Shagari (in custody) and sold in Cameroon. The Police report revealed.
The arrests and recoveries made by the police stated;
- Onyekachi Igwe (ex-convict) earned over ₦5 million in 8 months liaising in Port Harcourt.
- Auto-electricians Ikechukwu Joseph and Michael Emerenwa modified vehicles for export.
- Other suspects arrested include Elijah Nwauwa Sunday (a self-styled pastor) and Samuel Ejigbo (ex-convict).
The Rivers State Police Command is committed to making the state hostile to criminal syndicates and ensuring public safety. They urge residents to remain vigilant and support the police with credible information, SP Grace Iringe-Koko has said in the statement issued.
