RIVERS STATE POLICE COMMAND ARREST SUSPECTED CHILD TRAFFICKING SYNDICATE AND RESCUED VICTIMS
The River State Police Command has arrested a notorious human trafficker. Esther Anthony of Rumukwachi Community Port Harcourt. She has been arrested in connection of four teenagers. A report from the State Police Public Relations Officer has said.
According to the Spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe- Koko, “The children, aged one to thirteen years, were lodged at Alaeze Guest House in Rumukwachi, Port Harcourt, and were intended to be handed over to a nurse named Loveth, who runs a maternity home”.
Mother luck ran against Esther Anthony and her gang when the Managing Director of the Guest House Hotel she lodged the children grew suspicious of her nefarious activities, and denied her access to check out with the children, demanding their mother’s presents.
In the twist of the incident, Esther Anthony left and returned with police officers, falsely claiming that the Guest House Manager had abducted the children and threatened her with a gun.
However, the Managing Director contacted the Choba Area Command, and officers arrived to arrest Esther Anthony.
According to the Police, the suspect has been making very useful information and confess to the crimes . She confess to have conspired with one Favour to traffick the children from the Swali Community in Bayelsa State. Purity Silas was also arrested in connection with the case.
The notorious suspect, Esther Anthony was identified by another family as the same person who had stolen three of their children in the Rumuodara area of Port Harcourt and sold them to Loveth.
The case has been transferred to State CID, Port-Harcourt and suspects are currently in police custody. The rescued children have been reunited with their families while suspects will be charged to court after Police complete their investigations.
