Oba Of Benin Commissions Olumide Akpata’s Project

Anyone who’s a keen political follower, watcher and analyst in Nigeria, would agree that the Oba accepting to attend this project inauguration in person in this election period simply echoes endorsement.

The Edo governorship election is getting more and more interesting and unpredictable every day.

The road to Osadabey Avenue might be as smooth for Asue Ighodalo as we previously thought.

Yesterday, 13 April 2024 was a truly momentous occasion as HRM Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, CFR, the Grand Patron of the Benin Club 1931, inaugurated the Senator Olu Akpata Memorial Clinic at the prestigious Benin Club 1931 named after Senator (Chief) Emmanuel Idahosa Oluwafemi Akpata, more popularly known as Senator Olu Akpata, the first indigenous President of Benin Club 1931.

When my father, Dr. Henry Omorogieva Akpata lost his father, Chief Johnson Ogunleye Akpata in 1946, Senator Olu Akpata took it upon himself to step in and serve ‘in loco parentis’ as a father figure for the young Henry Omorogieva and his siblings. This role, he performed creditably while also playing a significant role in the emergence of my dad as a successful medical practitioner.
It is, therefore, an immense honour to bring this vision to life and create a lasting healthcare facility in tribute to my beloved uncle, Senator Olu Akpata.

The new clinic bearing his name will provide essential healthcare for club members and residents and thereby ensure that Senator Olu Akpata’s legacy of dedication to community upliftment lives on. The Benin Club 1931 holds such profound significance not just to my family but also to my family but also the people of Edo State, embodying our resilient history and fostering unity. With the Senator Olu Akpata Memorial Clinic, we can now extend its positive impact through compassionate care that will touch countless lives for years to come
