Kano Police rejig Secure Architecture for Election Integrity In the State
KANO STATE ASSEMBLY RE-RUN/BY-ELECTIONS: CP BAKORI ASSURES ADEQUATE SECURITY, ANNOUNCES MOVEMENT RESTRICTIONS IN GHARI, TSANYAWA, BAGWAI, SHANONO LGAs
The Kano State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, sfipma, mnim, mnips, masis, wishes to inform the good people of Kano State that the Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has put all necessary measures in place to ensure a peaceful, free, fair, transparent, and successful re-run election for Ghari/Tsanyawa State Constituency and by-election for Bagwai/Shanono State Constituency, scheduled to take place on Saturday, 16th August 2025.
According to the reports, to maintain law and order during the elections, the Command wishes to inform visitors and residents of the affected Local Government Areas (LGAs) — Ghari, Tsanyawa, Bagwai, and Shanono — of the following guidelines and restrictions:
The importance of movement, the state Chief security officer for the Police, CP Bakori gives directives on the movement of motor vehicles, tricycles, and motorcycles to be strictly restricted from 12:00 midnight of Friday the 15th to 6:00 PM of Saturday the 16th, August, 2025 – being the Election Day, proper.
Exceptions will only be granted to vehicles on essential services, such as ambulances, fire service trucks, and vehicles of electoral officers and accredited election observers the report was quoted as saying.
Further more. only eligible voters will be allowed at polling units.
- Only agents officially identified by INEC will be permitted at polling units.
The Police warned seriously on the carrying of weapons of any kind and as such strictly prohibited.
Individuals wearing clothing or carrying items with political party logos or identities will not be allowed at polling units. Loitering in or around polling units will not be tolerated.
The Command warned seriously against compromising it’s functional responsibility. State security outfits such as Vigilante groups and KAROTA personnel, etc. will not be allowed at polling units.
The Command assures the public of its commitment to providing adequate security and maintaining peace throughout the electoral process. Security agencies will continue to remain apolitical, impartial, professional, neutral, and civil in the discharge of their duties.
Residents of the affected LGAs and visitors alike are urged to cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies to ensure a smooth and hitch-free electoral process.
