OPERATION KUKAN KURA: NOTORIOUS ROBBERY SUSPECT BARGA, 14 OTHER THUGS ARRESTED, 4 MOBILE PHONES RECOVERED
The Kano State Police Command has just made a major breakthrough in their fight against thuggery-related crimes! They arrested 15 suspects, including a notorious armed robber named Mu’azu Barga, during a crackdown operation in Sheka, Ja’oji, and Kurna Quarters on July 26, 2025. The Police Public Relations Officer of the State, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa has said in a document made available to Aiyekooto Reporters.
According to the Police Spokesperson SP Kiyawa, this operation is part of their ongoing “Operation Kukan Kura” initiative, aimed at detecting and preventing criminal activities in the metropolitan city.
The suspects, aged 14 to 28, were caught with four stolen mobile phones and have confessed to crimes like mobile phone robbery and theft. Mu’azu Barga, the suspected serial armed robber, is linked to several cases of armed robbery and violent attacks in Kano Metropolis, SP Kiyawa stated in the reports.
However, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, has declared total war against thuggery-related crimes and reassures the public of the command’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in the state.
The command appreciates the public’s support and encourages residents to report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
