I’m not an Emperor Dapo Abiodun Replies Tinubu

Dapo Abiodun, Ogun State governor, has shaded Bola Tinubu, former governor of Lagos State and presidential hopeful who referred to him as “Eleeyi”, a Yoruba word which loosely translates to “this one,” noting that he is not an emperor.

Tinubu had while speaking to Ogun State delegates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abeokuta on Thursday, expressed displeasure with Abiodun who has since backed the presidential aspiration of Yemi Osibanjo, the vice president who is from his state.

Tinubu who also expressed dissatisfaction with President Muhammadu Buhari’s seeming unwillingness to back his presidential ambition, noting that he would not have become president in 2015 if not for his support, also remarked that Abiodun couldn’t have become governor in 2019 without his support.

Tinubu, who was obviously expressing his disappointment with what he evidently perceive to be Abiodun’s betrayal had referred to him as “This One.”

But Abiodun in a measured response, has noted that he is not an emperor and doesn’t aspire to be one, but only holds the post of governor in trust for his people.

“I am not an emperor by any chance and this is not my family inheritance,” the Ogun governor wrote via his twitter handle, @dabiodunMFR, on Friday.

“I am holding this position in trust for all the people of this state and I have vowed to be fair, just and equitable and this is the solemn agreement I made between the Almighty God and myself.”

I am not an emperor by any chance and this is not my family inheritance.
