Igbologun Community Call For President Tinubu’s Intervention
The Igbologun, Igboeseyore, and Igbosu communities in Lagos State are facing a long-standing land dispute with Ọba Moruf Oyekunle Atanda Amodu-Tijani Olúwa, the Olú-Ìwà of Apapa Kingdom.
The communities reject Ọba Olú-Ìwà’s attempt to impose a Baálè on their land, citing historical and cultural ties that predate his involvement
According to the Baale Adams Lateef Oluwo, The communities claim ancestral roots dating back over 500 years, with governance structures that have always been communal.
Speaking further, A court case has been ongoing since 1998, with upcoming hearings scheduled for September 18 and 24, 2025. The three communities are united in their rejection of Ọba Olú-Ìwà’s claims, stressing that he has no ancestral land, shrine, or traditional rights in their territory.
The Community Leaders’ Stance:
Chief Lateef Adams Oluwo, The Baálè-elect of Igbologun emphasized the community’s ancestral roots and self-governance tradition. The communities have appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwó-Olú, and other relevant authorities for justice and protection .
The Igbologun Community is confident that if truly the Court is the hope of the common man the court may rule in favor of the communities, affirming their ancestral rights and rejecting Ọba Olú-Ìwà’s claims.
Baale Adams Lateef Oluwo, is of the opinion that the illiteracy of their fathers and trust of friendship should not be used as yardstick in determining ownership of land against the indigenous people of Igbologun. That the trust of friendship was betrayed by the Oluwa’s that has no cultural relationship neither by conquests with the Igbologun Community.
Authorities should intervene to prevent further unrest and ensure peace in the communities. Aiyekooto Reporters is of the opinion that mediation or arbitration could be explored as an alternative dispute resolution mechanism and not forcibly taking ownership of people land and their heritage.
The Judiciary , state apparatus and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is in the eyes of the world if the Oluwa’s will use the paraphernalia of government to override people’s heritage or justice done with the weak who owns their land.
oh waooh this is so hilarious oo. MAY God help the community
We will continue to report accordingly. Thanks
This oluwa and his group have failed long ago, why are they coming back now.
Am prince merry,I have leaved in igbologun for decades,
I have never seen where been kind to people is a sin,
Oluwa and his family deceived our grandfathers, and now wanting to claim what does not belong to them,
Like my honourable baale said earlier, judiciary is the last hope of a poor man .
If this case is well delivered, my honourable BAALE, ADAMS will come out victorious.
Long live igbologun
Long live ADAMS, BAALE
The world is watching as the matter is already in a competent court of law. Aiyekooto Reporters will always stand in good reportage of the proceeding. Thanks Merry.
