The Iba Community is located in Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State South West , Nigeria. The Community is prominent in the State because the community host alot of Nigerians in the area. They are host to every Nigerian where you find the majority of Awori’s, other Yoruba clans, Igbos, Hausa/fulanis living together and doing things in common.
It host the Lagos State University,Ojo by the other end . Though , the Iba Community has a traditional ruler a first class Oba (King) that oversea the custom and tradition of the people HRM Adesina Sulaimon Raji , the Oniba of Iba Ekun, Lagos State, Nigeria.
The King of Iba Ekun Community is notable for his friendly disposition and ready to see more development sweep across his domain hence he opened his arms to welcome the newly posted Area E Police Commander, ACP Taofiq Sabir who’s on official visit to Iba Community.
However, the Divisional Police Officer, SP Akinola Aduroja play host to the visiting Area Commander, ACP Taofiq Sabir. The DPO , Akinola Aduroja received the Area Commander and both men drove immediately to the Oniba Ekun Palace where the Commander initiate the Oba the purpose for the visit, the Area Commander has resumed to office two weeks earlier. In response the Oba HRM Adesina Sulaimon Raji told the visiting Area Commander ACP Taofiq Sabir of the Palace cooperation and wish him good stay in the Kingdom.
The familiarization tour is to equate himself to the security architecture of the area, this will enable him aquaint himself with first class information about the community under his jurisdiction, the visiting Commander told the Oniba Ekun.
The Supol Iba Police Division, SP Akinola Aduroja used the opportunity to give verbatim reports on the Division progress and challenges to the visiting Area Commander. He also give basic analysis of the Division structure.
On resumption of office, the Divisional Head, SP Akinola Aduroja created a Task force to curb road gridlock with collaboration with the transport stakeholders. This proactive steps reduced drastically the horrible traffic jam routine of the Area.
The Iba Community crime rate was alarming hence we fortify the Crime Unit of the Division, made strategic changes to checkmate and reduce crime in the area, adhering to the Commissioner of Police Idowu Owohunwa as handed over to the Area Commander which is now paying off.
We ensure a working relationship with the PCRC of the community in total collaboration with the Oniba Ekun to boost Community Policing in and around Iba Community.
This strategic partnership led to the arrest of a notorious suspected armed robber Sodiq Isah Muyisi (a.k.a
Afefe) who confessed to have killed over twenty (20) people with his gangs, they have been arrested, transfered to State Command for further investigations.
Gender issues/ Domestic violence are also handle; most cases of such are transfer for persecution. Thirty three cases of stealing, rape cases, impersonations are under command investigations and the desirable for bail are granted with accordance to order and directives from superior command.
The Operational Officer, SP Akinola Aduroja , said the progress is not without some perennial challenges. That the Division cannot boost of a good patrol van, he appealed to the Area Commander ACP Taofiq Sabir to help to facilitate a Divisional Patrol Vehicle.
A Police post desirable for the large division to compliment the Divisional structure, increase strength of personnel and ammunition. He also used the opportunity to appeal to the stakeholders in the community for more collaborative assistant to the Division in other to combat crime effectively.
In response to the aforementioned, the Area E Commander ACP Taofiq Sabir said all the demands will be looked into by the appropriate authority, he advised that police officers must be disciplined, dutiful, and diligent in discharge of official duties. He admonished that the Division keep harmonious relationship with their host community and warn against working contrary to the State Police Commissioner Idowu Owohunwa directives in discharge of their professional duties.
Also speaking at the event, on the behalf of the PCRC Iba Chairman Kamal Lawal said the relationship with the division will buttress further and areas of cooperation with the Police will not be lacking. Dr Anene Nwachukwu another stakeholders in the community said there’s no going back in working towards a better relationship with the Public and Police. Sir, Paul Ago, Chairman Cinac Royal Schools appreciated the Police Division for improve security presence in the community and promises collaboration with the Police in the Area.
In drawing the curtain, the Area Commander watched Prince Elvins Allarmbloo as he thrilled the audience to the delight of all.
