The Head of the Federal Criminal Investigation Department Alagbon Annex, AIG Idowu Owohunwa has assured that under his watch, FCID Lagos annex will maximize and deploy technology driven device to curb crime to advance investigation, crime detection and crime prevention mandates of the Department in line with the charge of the Inspector General of Police , IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun PhD, NPM.
The Spokeperson for the FCID Alagbon Annex, ASP Aminat Oluwakemi Mayegun has said in a press briefing yesterday at the Ikoyi office of the department.
While briefing Journalists, ASP Aminat Mayegun gave verbatim report of how the Operatives of the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex Alagbon Lagos conducted an intelligence led undercover which led to the arrest of Ibrahim Babangida a thirty five (35) years old man from Bida , Niger State.
Speaking further, ASP Mayegun told bewildered Journalists that barely twenty four (24) hours of employing Ibrahim Babangida as a driver at SKECC Nigeria Limited, Warri-based construction company in Delta State on the 31st December 2023 he perfected the crime, while one of his first tasks by his employers was for him to convey company items to Sapele Staff Quarters in the State.
Upon delivering the goods, he latched out to perpetrate his criminal motive which is to disposed the Pickup Vehicle in his possession, “Ibrahim Babangida confessed to have link up his contact whom he identified as Emmanuel Olalekan, a Mechanic at Epe, Lagos State the suspect is currently at large”.
“He also indicated that Emmanuel Olalekan who had knowledge of his crime, linked him with Wilson Onobukoko and Daniel Paul for purpose of sourcing prospective buyers for the stolen vehicle”. Ibrahim Babangida was arrested with the duo by the undercover police detectives from FCID (Annex) Lagos and the stolen vehicle recovered from him on the 1st January, 2024 at about 0800hrs barely twenty four hours of employment.
According to the FCID Alagbon Spokeperson, ASP Aminat Mayegun said, suspect confessed that other syndicate members connived with him to dispose the pickup vehicle with Reg. No. WWR 846 AH along with its original documents at a paltry sum of ten million naira (#10m) in Epe, Lagos State.
The FCID Alagbon Detectives are in contact with Delta State Police Command towards transferring the suspects and the stolen vehicle to them for conclusive investigation and further prosecution , ASP Aminat Mayegun has said in the statement released.
