Gov. Seyi Makinde Host Committee of Retired IGP’s On Two Days Retreat In Ibadan

Governor Seyi Makinde of oyo state is set to host all retired Inspectors General of Police in Nigeria in the state capital on a two days retreat, A statement released quoting Ikechukwu Ani, the Head of Press, and Publicity of the Secretariat Committee of ex – IGPs 2023 has said .

The Spokeperson Ani has said the theme of the maiden retreat is: ‘Intervention Of Ex-Inspectors General of Police For Strategic Contribution To Effective Policing In Nigeria”. It should be recalled, that Dr Solomon Arase CFR , a former Inspector General of Police has always advocated that their contribution towards effective policing and beyond can never be over-emphasized.

The event will holds at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture IITA, Ibadan Oyo State from Monday, August 21st to Wednesday August 23rd 2023.

The Retreat is expected to attract all retired Inspectors-General of Police; the National Security Adviser, AIG Nuhu Ribadu rtd, the Chairman of the Police Service Commission Dr. Solomon Arase and the Acting Inspector General of Police, Ag. IGP Olukayode Egbetokun. His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde will be the Chief Host at the event.

Ani has said that several topical papers will be presented at the Retreat such as; Current State of Police Preparedness; Issues, Challenges and Prospects and Strategic actions and steps towards restoring NPF’s primacy in internal security architecture of Nigeria;

There will also be an intellectual engagement session on the imperativeness of employing the experiential knowledge of the retired IGPs in the effective management of internal security in Nigeria, Ikechukwu Ani has disclosed in the statement released.

The convener of the retreat maiden edition, a former Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Aliyu Attah GCON, and Chairman of the Committee of Retired Inspectors General of Police revealed that it’s the first in the history of the Committee.
