Frank Mba, Bala Ciroma Now DIG, 14CPs , 22 DCPs, Others Promoted

The Police Service Commission has approved the appointments of AIGs Frank Mba and Bala Ciroma as Deputy Inspectors General of Police. DIG Ciroma will replace retired DIG Ali Janga, representing the North East geopolitical region. DIG Mba will represent the South East zone. 


The Commission also approved the elevation of 22 Deputy Commissioners to Commissioners and 14 Commissioners to Assistant Inspectors General of Police. The 21st Plenary Meeting of the Commission, chaired by retired Inspector General Dr Solomon Arase, was emphasized by these decisions.


The 14 Commissioners of Police promoted to Assistant Inspectors General of Police officers are:

6. CP Adepoju Ayiinde Ilori

The 22 Deputy Commissioners of Police who were promoted to the rank of Commissioners are:

The two AIGs, 14 CPs, and 22 DCPs appeared before the Commission in Plenary for an interactive session, a requirement for their new ranks.


The Commission also approved the promotion of twenty-four Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) to the next rank of Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), and the promotion of 39 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) to Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs).


In addition to the promotions, the Commission approved a new Instrument of Delegation on delegated powers to the Inspector General of Police.


Dr. Solomon Arase, Chairman of the Commission, congratulated newly promoted officers and encouraged them to rededicate themselves to their country. He promised regular police promotions to prevent stagnation. Dr. Arase also commended other Commission members for their dedication and sacrifice, stating a brighter future for the Nigeria Police Force.
