The Inspector General of Police Usman Baba Alkali CFR has ordered that police officers should vacate premises within May 1st to May 31st to enable it collaborate with the infrastructural plan befitting to global practices to crave to it’s development plan towards the reconstruction of police barracks across Nigeria.
The directives is causing ripples among certain circle base upon the misinformation of unscrupulous elements and anchoring on the short period. However, for there to be change radical and practical steps to ensure such must be taken effectively. However, internal mechanism to adhere to the directives has been put in place to ensure a smooth service to affected police officers and embarking on the laudable project.
The IGP Usman Baba Alkali determine to cushion effect of relocation with the current standard of the residential area rental plan of such affected police officers, hence a disbursement plan for two years as palliative has been stimulated. Also in partnership with the Lagos State Government in this regard for speedy delivery of service and ensuring that it meet expectant structural designs benchmark of Lagos State, the Nigeria Police Force has deplored it’s best hands to effect the collaboration.
Though , the renovation drive is akin to modern infrastructural plan. It is long overdue it require a strong-willed of an Inspector General of Police to embark on such massive project. There’s a general outrage that police barracks in the country need to be demolished, renovated, restructured and put in place maintenance culture.
Towards this background, a statement released to Journalists by the Force PPRO CSP Muyiwa Adejobi suggest the aforementioned directives to reconstruct and renovate it’s police edifice .

ii. Highway Police Barracks, Ikeja
iii. K9 Police Barracks, Keffi Street, South-West, Ikoyi
iv. Falomo Police Barracks (A and B), Ikoyi
v. Bar Beach Police Barracks, Victoria Island
vi. MOPOL 20 Barracks, Ikeja
vii. Women Police Barracks, Obalende
viii. MOPOL 2 Police Barracks, Keffi Street, South-West, Ikoyi
ix. Mounted Troop, Ribadu Road, Ikoyi
x. Queen Barracks, Apapa
xi. FPRO Annex Office and Barracks, Ijora Olopa
xii. Iponrin Police Barracks, Surulere
xiii. Adekunle Police Barracks, Yaba

The statement read in part, this is in furtherance to the development drive of the Inspector general of Police Usman Baba Alkali CFR across the country “which have so far led to the construction of over 198 projects including more than 120 modern police stations, barracks, and other vital police buildings around the country as part of efforts to ensure improved working conditions for more effective and efficient service delivery”.
The said project is not only police project but will be funded with other relevant police formation across the country. On completion of the project, officers will be reabsorbed and reallocate to their houses with respective keys base on available record of serving officers and legal occupants entitled to such.
The target is to ensure better condition of service, beneficial to outdoor activities as obtainable in modern society and gives credence to better policing and boost morale of the police officers.
The Force PPRO CSP Muyiwa Adejobi reassured that it will be a delight to all as the germaine dispositions of the IGP Usman Baba Alkali CFR is posited for the good of not only the Police Officers but the country at large.
