Destiny Child : Adegoke Fly The 39th Pennant As Lagos State Police Commissioner – Tunde Aiyekooto

The word , Destiny does it have any meaning? Did the word destiny really exist ? does the word play role in the history of man’s evolution? either physical or supernatural , or just a frictional diction?

Yes, this is the treat and web that entangled the journey of one of Nigerian finest cop in history of the Nigeria Police Force, he is one time sent on a missionary journey, rejected, forgotten and scorned but emerges as the most wanted , most sought, most admired, most waited to assume the position God, destiny and fate hoped for this extraordinary gentleman.

An insight into the word DESTINY means alot to different people regardless of the mirror it present, importantly certain school believe in the existentialism of the word destiny while it twin brother fate draw the lines that it exist to draw premise of destiny. Hence, you heard people talk about the word fate/destiny.

However in borrowed analysis; “destiny, fate, and lot mean a future that someone or something will have. destiny and fate both suggest that the future has been decided or planned by God or by some godlike power. destiny often suggests a future that includes something great and important”.

Permit me to draw this line, if the word destiny doesn’t exist then there can never be a word reference as destiny.

The power of the word destiny is beyond human understanding and comprehension because it is control by the supernatural if not given, it can never be taken.

Philosophically, there’s an “Uncause” cause and unmove mover. something cause something to move. for instance, the wind blow the leaves from different direction. What causes it to move is the power of “Uncause” cause and Unmove mover” that singular disposition, depicts the reckless power of the Unknown. That thing is superior and supreme. so, the unseen hand that control the kinetic theory is consequential, large, huge and beyond.

Adegoke destiny revolves round the aforementioned, he graduated with high school degree, at the point to figure out his next destination, he ran towards a childhood friend , a destiny helper and shaper, he said , ‘ Goke why don’t you pick up the Police form? he consented, before he could decide otherwise the friend brought the form home , Goke filled it and that’s the beginning of today’s journey. That childhood friend is now retired Deputy Inspector General Police, Bode Adeyinka Adeleke mni the immediate past DIG Operations B’ Ops. Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The first destiny helper/player in the life of Adegoke!

The Prince of ila-Orangun , after he joined the Nigeria Police Force proceeded to wear his cadet ASP uniform to pay homage to a Superior Police Officer known in his village. a Deputy Commissioner of Police then, Tafa Balogun , he welcome his kinsman, adopted him as a son and guide him jealously which shaped his career in the Nigeria Police Force. Nevertheless, the career counselor ended up as Inspector General of Police. He learnt alot from his father figure retired IGP Tafa Balogun- now late , the rest is history.
Destiny player number two …!

In the cause of his career journey, this young and very brilliant Police officer got a posting to serve as Police Aide de camp (ADC) to the Osun State Executive Governor Bisi Akande . He displayed gallantry in the discharge of his duty. At a point, the House of Assembly serve impeachment notice to the then Governor, the plot to impeached the Governor, Akande thickens, destiny played a pivotal role again. He singularly without order from above sealed off the Assembly Complex in the day of the plot and save his Boss impeachment at the detriment of his policing career. The rest is history, a father figure emerge as destiny player..!

The trio , played significant role in the life of a man who cannot control any of the aforesaid but God, Destiny and Fate reshaping a man. It’s wise to agree that the supreme being control the destiny of a man and instincts dictate the pace in decision making.

How destiny continue to shape Adegoke’s life depict the stark reality of the subject. To a steady rise.

A brief on the officer, he enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on May 18, 1992. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education/History from Lagos State University, a Master of Public Administration from the University of Lagos, and LLB from the National Open University of Nigeria. His extensive training includes courses in Criminal Justice Administration at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York, USA, as well as programs on community policing ethics, leadership, and senior management, most recently he is a graduate of course 45 in the prestigious Nigeria Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Kuru Jos Plateau State, Nigeria, It’s therefore imperative that the above resume dignified the destiny of the subject – Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha

He continue to grow, as the green plant sprout into life, his promotion on merit facilitate his posting to strategic positions, it’s worthy to dive into some of the previous posting, Adegoke served at Divisional Police Officer in Ilupeju and Victoria Island, during which he received the Lagos State Government Honour Award for Excellence in 2013.

Upon his promotion to the rank of Commissioner of Police he was taunted to be Lagos State Police Commissioner. Destiny played a fast one on him by certain unforseen circumstances he was therefore posted to Armament in Force Headquarters Abuja, having done yet he was included to proceed to NIPSS Kuru-Jos. His name was originally not on the list but was inputted by the unseen hands who are bent to twist destiny to the other side.

Then, destiny played a fast one against the manipulators. While still on course the beholder of the office, CP Idowu Owohunwa got promoted to an Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) . The unconventional thing has to be done, he’s still in Jos on the missionary journey, The outgoing CP Idowu Owohunwa couldn’t handover to a successor but a place holder … The most senior Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Waheed Ayilara had to hold up to avoid administrative vacuum or ineptitude. The Police Officer by twist of destiny is Adegoke’s successor in the State Criminal Investigation Department,Panti Yaba. He’s the one fate played on waiting for his predecessor to take over… Destiny

Since the foundation of NIPSS , the course 45 was the first in history where date of graduation was shifted twice because by the norm of the Institute, the President Commander in Chief has to be given the draft , research work recommendations as policy formation of the government needs the President attention and approval. Twice it was shifted! Destiny.

While all this is ongoing, a month of intrigues and shenanigans about who succeeds Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Idowu Owohunwa continues, the people of Lagos State keep waiting patiently for their new Commissioner of Police to arrive.

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun was in faraway Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on a Police Conference. The Governor Babajide Sanwoolu reminded the Inspector General of Police about his Police Commissioner. The IGP pull the long expected call to the Office of the Force Secretary. The man in charge of the Police Force Secretariat, AIG Yomi Oladimeji Olarenwaju had no option but to comply with the directives and signal to that effect was released through a letter, marked TH.5361/FS/FHQ /ABJ/T.5/103, and signed by the Nigeria Police Force Secretary, on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, it’s done…!
