The Lagos State Police Command has arrested one Benjamin Ezeukwe aged 28 for masterminding and fleecing hundreds of innocent Nigerians in an elaborate cement-price-slash scam.
The Lagos State Police Command, Spokeperson, SP Ben Hundeyin revealed in a report sent to Aiyekooto Reporters (AR) over the weekend.
Speaking further the cement scam genus Benjamin Ezeukwe, was arrested on October 19, 2023 in Rumuolumeni area of Obio/Akpor local government area of Rivers State following weeks of intensive investigation by officers of Area A Command of the State Command.
During a comprehensive search, Items recovered in his possession are one Tecno phone, one IPhone, three SIM cards including that of 08039691980 which he used for the scam and a Toyota Avalon.
It should be recalled that, the suspect had in September, 2023 created a bogus but convincing online advert purportedly by Dangote Cement, claiming a massive price slash.
This queer development, made numerous unsuspecting customers fell prey to the scam, losing millions of Naira to the suspect.
According to SP Hundeyin, investigation has so far revealed that the suspect had perpetrated several other similar scams. Suspect has since been arraigned and will dance to the lyrics of the law to serve as deterrent to others.
The Lagos State Police Command Acting Commissioner of Police, DCP Waheed Ayilara, while commending the Police Officers for the breakthrough, also warn citizens of the state to be wary of splash gifts especially during the yuletide period and ensure diligent investigation from parent company instead of engaging in online businesses without notable offices, that they stand a risk of losing their hard earn money. The Spokeperson SP Ben Hundeyin has said in the report privy to AR.
