The Anambra State Police Command has rewarded an Inspector of Police serving in Main Market Division Onitsha, alongside her Divisional Police Officer SP Joy Chidinma Ikpeama who got a cash reward from the State Command for being professional in discharge of official duties, a statement released by DSP Tochukwu Ikenga the Spokeperson for the Anambra State Police Command in Akwa, has said.
The State Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye made a cash presentation to the Police Officers on behalf of the Anambra State Police Command for being diligent, incorruptible and dedicated in the line of duty.
Inspector Charity Oyor who was on traffic duty in the market on Wednesday, 23rd August, 2023, sighted a shuttle bus carrying six heavy bundles of stripped armoured cable suspected to have been stolen driving past , she stopped and made further inquiry but the suspects decided to make offer of bribe which she rejected but put a call to her Divisional Head. SP Joy Chidinma Ikpeama led some of her perssonel to the scene. The suspects were arrested and offer the Police another bribe of Five hundred thousand naira (#500,000) at the Police Station which was refused. The cable was immediately impounded and taken as exhibit.
In compliance to the various degrees of lecture, in accordance to the instructions from the Ag. IGP Olukayode Egbetokun PhD, NPM , delivered by the Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye to the Anambra State Police Command to the personnel in Akwa that officers must be dedicated, dutiful and professional in discharge of official duties and keep an high standard of incorruptible instincts only then that a better policing can be attained.
In adherence to the aforementioned, SP Joy Chidinma Ikpeama briefed the indefatigable CP Aderemi Adeoye who immediately ordered for further investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to unrivaled the source , rightful owner and how the crime was penetrated before the point of arrest.
CP Aderemi Adeoye during the presentation of the cash award in his office on Friday 25th August, 2023 the Commissioner of Police commended the DPO for providing good leadership and Inspector Charity Oyor for her uprightness. He urged all Personnel in the Command to always uphold ethics of the profession by refusing to be compromised in the discharge of their duties”. the statement read in part.
The DPO Main Market Division Onitsha SP Joy Chidinma Ikpeama responded that her personnel was reacting to the exemplary leadership of the Commissioner of Police while Inspector Oyor said she’s rededicating herself to a profession she loves so.much and thank the Commissioner of Police for the handshake and encouraging cash reward of Two hundred and fifty thousand naira (#250,000) inspiring gift from the Anambra State Police Command, Akwa.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration, DCP Peter Umoru Ozigi was also present at the presentation and urge officers of the Command to replicate what Inspector Charity Oyor has done.
It should be recalled that, CP Aderemi Adeoye has vowed to be ruthless to any form of criminality in the State and appeal to ndi Anambra for cooperation to attain the desires goals. An elated Aderemi Adeoye made the presentation to the officer and left a bewildered Charity Oyor to do more. DSP Tochukwu Ikenga said in a monitored statement to Aiyekooto Reporters.
