The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha Psc, mni yesterday in accordance to the order and directives of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olukayode Egbetokun PhD, NPM sent succours to families of deceased Police Officers who died in the line of carrying out their professional duties.
While briefing Journalists in the Lagos State Command headquarters Ikeja, the Commissioner of Police CP Fayoade Adegoke mni confirmed the magnanimity as a gesture from the Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun in conjunction with the Police Insurance Scheme.
According to CP Fayoade Adegoke mni , the money could be much but cannot resuscitate the dead,
“I am very delighted to present this cheque to the families of our fallen heroes and colleagues, who sacrificed to make this country safe”.
“You all know the nature of our job, it is such that when your leaving home in the morning you are not sure whether you’ll come back home. But that’s the job we signed for and we have no choice than to do it. These are our fallen colleagues who sacrificed their lives, do their jobs with passion but lost their lives. The Police Authority and the Federal Government has deemed it fit to compensate the children and families of these heroes’, CP Fayoade has said during the Press briefing.
Speaking further , the sum of One hundred and sixty six million, two hundred and twenty three thousand naira (#166, 223,000. 00) was disbursed to the beneficiaries of the deceased fallen hero’s. It’s stipulated to cover 2021/2022 Insurance Scheme and IGP welfare package he told the deceased families.

It should be recalled that alot of Police structures/stations were targeted and burnt down by hoodlums, while Police officers lost their lives and became victims of Endsars protest in what it term police brutality.
However it become pertinent to give succour to the families through the Inspector General of Police welfare Package and Insurance Scheme which couldn’t bring back the dead irrespective of how much given, CP Fayoade Adegoke has said while addressing beneficiaries of the schemes.
