The Commissioner of Police Ogun State Police Command, CP Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha has condemned in strong terms the unprofessional act of police officers caught on camera flagrantly extorting money from commercial motorcyclists in contravention of the Police Acts and Regulations. A statement released from the office of the Police Public Relation Officer, SP Omolola Odutola has said.
Speaking further Odutola said, the Command has activated disciplinary measures in accordance to Police Acts on ethic rules of engagement and disengagment to serve as deterrent to others.
This shameful and repulsive incident took place on the 19th of October, 2023 at Maawu Bus stop in Agbado Area of the State, with an impeccable visual recording of Inspector Ikhanorba Lucky, Inspector Paul Sunday and Inspector Edwin Ekeogu while on visibility policing duty in the area.
The empirical video evidence identify the personnels which went viral on social media platforms .They are not only despicable, condemnable but project police image in bad light, hence an orderly room trial to the trio was immediately ordered.
The state Commissioner of Police CP Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha frown seriously on the very unprofessional act of the officers but didn’t mince word to say, “for the umpteenth time emphasised Police high hierarchy commitment to upholding professional standards within the force to sustain avowed quality service delivery to the citizens and sustain public trust and confidence in Nigeria Police Force”. SP Odutola has said in the statement released and sighted by Aiyekooto Reporters.
