The VAR decision to award a penalty to Sudan in the 70th minutes of the game have been heavily criticised. The Referee’s initial decision should have stand because the Sudan player overreacted to the incident.
It was an intentional foul by Ola Aina but the VAR ordered the Referee to check the screen. Khidir converted the penalty brilliantly to give his team a consolation goal.
With the 3-1 victory for Nigeria, the Super Eagles have now qualified for the knock out stage.
