The Kwara State Police Commissioner CP Victor Olaiya psc (+) has commence very intensive rcollaboration with the critical stakeholders in the State, the target is to bring relative peace and absolute security to the state to ensure this, a high level security summit was held over the weekend where all critical stakeholders discussed in verbatim, a statement released by the Spokeperson of the Kwara State Police Command, SP Okasanmi Ajayi has revealed.
Speaking further, SP Okasanmi Ajayi said security top the agenda of the summit, the meeting comprises of all Communities, Villages and District Heads including Maiyetti-Allah, Gan-Allah and Fulani Association leaders in the State.
The command Spokeperson, SP Ajayi said an “extensive discussion on measures to be adopted to mitigate the prevalent cases of Kidnapping and Famers/Herders Clashes in the state was reached. It was an interactive session where all the stakeholders were permitted to express their uncensored views regarding security issues under review and the way forward”. the document sighted revealed.
It is said that the best policy to address insecurity is to involve the locals, hence community policing is one of the best way to curb crime and criminality.
CP Victor Olaiya Psc+ in adherence to the order and directives of the acting Inspector General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun PhD, NPM ensure the security summit hold where he had the opportunity to address very disturbing high rate kidnapping in the State and other violent crime and criminality.
While addressing the state stakeholders it was generally agreed that, “Bororo/Fulanis must give information about the criminal activities of their kiths in the communities and also report the activities of saboteurs among the indigenes. This according to report would stop criminal elements from other states from making the state a destination of choice for criminals”.
The Farmers/Herders clashes was also identified, “it was also agreed by majority in the meeting that roving Herders are those that commit most of the mischief recorded on farmlands while the farmers accused resident fulanis of the crimes which sometimes result into crises of confidence among the herders and their host farmers”
The Security Summit also extend to other security issues of concern in the state especially, cult related activities and measures to forestall the hideous crimes was also adopted .
CP Victor Olaiya Psc+ admonishes all the critical stakeholders to go home and be of good brothers to one another, learn how to live in peace and harmony with their respective subjects.
Speaking further the CP said, Kwara State Police Command under his watch is ready to work with law abiding citizens in the State but have a word to criminal elements to find their way out of the state as he will be legal and ruthless in dealing with such. That the glory of Kwara State reputable for peace and tranquility will be restored , the Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya assured in the statement released by the Command PPRO, SP Okasanmi Ajayi over the weekend.
