The Adamawa Police Command, Commissioner of Police, Afolabi Babatola, has warned earlier on assumption of office that criminal elements in the State should relocate or get ready to be disgraced. He admonished officers to ensure to adhere to the objectivity of the profession on the protection of lives and properties.
However, an elated Commissioner of Police CP Afolabi Babatola who said his officers are in collaboration with the aforementioned directives given to all police departments, formations and Area Command. It is in purview of this, he has recognized eleven Police officers and Hunters in the state which he presented a merit plagues for their gallantry in discharge of their professional duties when the officers neutralized thirty two (32) robbers and kidnappers who has been terrorizing the state for some time now.
The Police Operatives that arrested the robbery and kidnapping suspects are mostly from the Crack Squad of the state command. A statement released by the Police Spokeperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje has said.
Speaking further, the PPRO SP Nguroje said, “among the paraded suspects was Mustapha Mohammed who was linked to the abduction of Zainab Abbas, the wife of an Adamawa State High Court judge who was abducted from her residence in Nyibango, a residential district in the Yola North LGA early in June”.
Police Public Relations Officer SP Suleiman Nguroje, who addressed newsmen in the course of parading the suspects, listed the items recovered from them to include 13 AK-47 rifles, five locally made pistols, four pump-action guns and a cash sum of N1,689,000, among other items.
The CP Afolabi Babatola has told the indigenes of the state to continue to give their total support to the police that their genuine collaboration with the Police will make the environment safer for the benefits of all and sundry.
However, the robbery and kidnapping suspects will be charged to court at the conclusion of their interrogations. He stated in the report released to Journalists in the State Police Command Headquarters in Yola.
