Abba Kyari Blast NDLEA Over Spurious Allegations

Abba Kyari’s stance in court

In what turn out to be dramatic in Court , the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari told the Federal High Court in Abuja that the NDLEA’s claim he owns the Borno State polo ground is “laughable and malicious.” lack merit and fabricated against him.

According to him, the allegation is orchestrated to tarnish his image, The ground, he said, is a public recreational facility that has existed since his childhood and is owned by the Borno State government.

Speaking further, he denied owning any of the other properties the NDLEA linked to him, explaining that many of those assets belong to his late father, who left numerous properties to his 30 children, or to siblings and unrelated parties. The documents, he said, are registered with the Borno State Ministry of Lands.

While Presenting his bank records, Kyari showed modest balances: ₦366 k (GTBank), ₦257 k (Access), ₦2.9 M (UBA salary account), ₦88 (Sterling, dormant), and £7 k (GTBank domiciliary). He said the NDLEA misrepresented these figures to suggest he has ₦200 M.

However, he admitted to owning only one farmland along the Abuja‑Kaduna expressway, which he has managed for over a decade and declared in his asset form as required by the law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He therefore frown at the Media trial and bias: going on against him. The former Commander of the IGP/IRT DCP, Abba Kyari accused the NDLEA of waging a “campaign of lies” to tarnish his reputation and shield its own officers implicated in the Enugu Airport drug scandal.

The Drug carriers: Reports say they got a soft landing and were released after just six months, and there are credible indications they’ve returned to the drug trade. While further investigation proves that the Officers who arrested them: They’ve been detained for over four years, allegedly because they refused to compromise.

Aiyekooto Reporters findings established that the Officers who allegedly colluded: Despite incontrovertible evidence that NDLEA officers colluded with an international drug cartel, enabling multiple drug imports, those officers were never arrested or prosecuted.

An indisputable fact is that, a perceived double standard: the real criminals (drug traffickers) Patrick Chibunna Umeibe and Emeka Alphonsus Ezenwanne were let off lightly, while the honest officers who acted against them have faced prolonged detention.

The embittered Deputy Commissioner of Police Abba Kyari claimed his rights were violated—denied legal counsel and phone access during interrogation, and his accounts were frozen despite presenting clear bank statements.

The presiding Judge, Justice James Omotosho dismissed Kyari’s no‑case submission, ruling that a prima facie case exists and ordering him to present a defence. The judge emphasized that the burden of proof remains on the prosecution and reminded all parties that the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The trial has been adjourned for continuation on November 12th, 2025.

According to Aiyekooto Reporters Crime Correspondence, the onions now fell on What’s next?

The NDLEA must now produce concrete evidence linking Kyari to the alleged undisclosed assets and money‑laundering charges.

DCP Kyari’s defence will likely focus on proving the legitimacy of his disclosed assets and challenging the credibility of the NDLEA’s allegations. It will depicts the prove of ownership if Abba Kyari is right or a malicious allegations brought before the court by the NDLEA. Only time shall tell.
