CP Ikioye Orutugu, PhD the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, has embarked on an extensive tour of police formations across the state to strengthen community policing and enhance security measures.
According to the Spokesperson for the Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga the Commissioner of Police, CP Orutugu stated during a recent visit to the Rapid Response Unit and Police Mobile Force 54 Squadron in Onitsha, where he emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of integrity and professionalism, particularly in adhering to the Police Operational Protocol.
The Commissioner of Police highlighted the significance of the visits as follows:
- Assessing Operational Effectiveness: The tour aims to evaluate the operational effectiveness of police units, identify challenges, and implement effective solutions to improve security in the state.
- Condolence Visit: CP Orutugu paid a condolence visit to the Police Mobile Force 29 Squadron following the tragic death of Inspector Okolie Amechi, who was accidentally shot by his son. The CP urged personnel to remain resolute and adhere strictly to operational protocols.
- Promoting Accountability: He admonished officers to shun corruption, extortion, indiscipline, and neglect of family care, which can negatively impact their performance and job satisfaction.
- Community Policing: The CP’s tour underscores his commitment to community policing and enhancing security measures in Anambra State, building on his experience as a seasoned police officer with specialized training in peace negotiation, interpersonal skills, and combat leadership.
