Meet Richard Mofe-Damijo

Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, is a Nigerian actor, writer, producer, lawyer, and former journalist born on July 6, 1961, in Aladja, Delta State. He studied Theatre Arts at the University of Benin and later law at the University of Lagos, graduating in 2004.

RMD’s career in the entertainment industry spans several decades, with notable roles in films like Olobiri (2015), The Wedding Party (2016), 30 Days in Atlanta (2014), and God Calling (2018). His versatility as an actor allows him to navigate various genres, from romantic dramas to thrilling action films.

Throughout his career, RMD has received numerous awards and recognition, including:

  • Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role (2005)
  • Lifetime Achievement Award at the 12th Africa Movie Academy Awards (2016)
  • Industry Merit Awards at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (2024)

RMD has also ventured into politics, serving as the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Delta State in 2009. He has been married twice, first to May Ellen-Ezekiel (MEE) who passed away in 1996, and then to Jumobi Adegbesan.
