CP Itam call for enhanced community policing to tackle crime

AGAIN! CP ITAM OPENS MORE CHANNELS OF ENGAGEMENT, ADDRESSES ANAMBRA CENTRAL SENATORIAL TRADITIONAL RULERS FORUM

The power of communication channel is the first law in the battle to tackle crime and criminality. A close door, is a close information and the effects is breding insecurity, unsafe environment and vulnerable citizens bear the brunts

The Anambra State Police Commissioner, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam having the full grabs of the negatives aforementioned delibrately open more channels of engagement in his advocacy Policing plan to give adequate protection for the indigenous people of the ndi Anambra.

This is the statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer of the State, SP Tochukwu Ikenga in Akwa the Command Headquarters.

Briefing Journalists, CP Itam is poise to the Policing plan because the Police needs first hand information, hence the rules of engagement with the traditional rulers cannot be overemphasized because they are the first interface with the people. This will help the Police and Security Agencies in enforcing the law and maintaining public order and safety in the State,

According to him, while addressing the Anambra Central Senatorial Traditional Rulers Forum during their monthly meeting at Awka South Local Government Headquarters, Awka the Commissioner of Police, CP Itam stated that, “the traditional rulers are the custodians of our cultural heritage are among the first levels of law enforcers as they deal with native and custom laws of the land. He stated that these laws if properly enforced at their level, some societal Menace shall not generate serious criminal behavior among teeming youths in the State”.

Speaking further, he call for collective cooperation among themselves, as Patriots to extend hands of fellowship with one another. Crime cannot be defeated without embracing oneness and put aside diversity and differences in other to promote unity and progress. He appeal to them to open up more channels of communication with their subjects to ensure a better safety society.

The Chairman of the forum, HRH Igwe O. D. Ezeani Ugonabo Neni, responding on behalf of others , acknowledge CP Nnaghe Obono Itam efforts to bridge the gap of communication between them, according to him, this is the first of it’s kind, and pledges adequate support and cooperation with the Anambra State Police Command leadership and other security architecture of the state.

“The CP addressed some of the concerns of the traditional rulers and proposed more elaborate deliberation where all relevant stakeholders and Government agencies shall be in attendance”.

The traditional rulers came out in their numbers to receive the State Police Commissioner, they are
HRM, Igwe Charles C Agbala, Igwe Uke, HRM, Igwe S.I Okafor Ogene Okpuno JP, HRM Joel .M. Ezebuilo Ezeudo Umuawulu, HRM Igwe DR Emeka Ilouno Eze dunu, Ifitedunu, HRM Igwe AC Ezebuilo, Igwe Amanuke among others. AR reports
