IGP Olukayode Egbetokun Appoints First Female Police Force Secretary

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the posting of Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Yetunde Longe, as the first female Force Secretary for the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

The appointment of AIG Yetunde Longe and AIG Idowu Owohunwa was followed by a circular released TP 5361/FS/FHQ/AB/SUB.5/58. The Inspector General of Police also confirmed the posting of AIG Idowu Owohunwa to the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja.

The Spokeperson for the Nigeria Police Force,ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the appointment is with immediate effect, he said is part of the plan to rejig efficiency of the Force and tackling crime across the country.

According to the FPPRO, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi explained that the First Female Force Secretary in Nigeria Police history AIG Yetunde Longe, in this capacity, would be responsible for overseeing the secretarial functions of the Force Headquarters, ensuring that policies and directives of the IGP are implemented effectively, as well as coordinate the affairs of senior police officers.

Similarly, Owohunwa is tasked with enhancing international police cooperation and ensuring that Nigeria fulfills its obligations within the global INTERPOL framework.

Adejobi further stated that the IGP while commending the senior police officers for their dedication and service to the NPF, emphasised that their new assignments is a proof of their exceptional abilities and the trust the Police Force places in their capabilities.

The spokesperson said the appointments, which followed the retirement of their predecessors, were with immediate effect.
